Connie “Mike” Max Nunley, 60, of Chambersburg, PA, died at 11:05 AM Sunday July 3, 2011 at his home. Born October 26, 1950 in Olney, TX, he was a son of the late James and Connie Anderson Nunley. A US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Mike retired from the military after twenty years of service and was then employed as both Assistant Manager and later Manager of the former Cannery Outlet near Fayettville. He was last employed by Hagemeyer Forklift in Chambersburg. He was a member of The First Pentecostal Church of Chambersburg. Mike enjoyed singing in church, refereeing baseball, softball, and basketball; hunting, camping, and fishing.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Janie Shew Nunley, whom he married September 21, 1974; two children, Melinda Cooper and husband Ryan of Shippensburg and Michael Nunley of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Breanna Cooper, Rivver Cooper, and Neamiah Nunley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angel Cooper on July 15, 1995 and a brother, Truman Nunley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor. Phyllis Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
