Constance G. Hipp, 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at her home. Born July 8, 1938, in Washington D.C., she was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Augusta E. Lyles Dixon.
Connie graduated from High School in Washington D.C. in 1956. She was employed as a secretary at the F.B.I. and later at the Washington Star newspaper for 10 years. She was an owner/operator of M&H Auction with her family for 15 years until her retirement in 1986. Connie was very active in the Hagerstown Parkinson’s Support Group. Her love was with all things to do with animals and she was a supporter of animal rescue shelters. Constance also loved gospel music especially the Gaither Band.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John J. Hipp, whom she married on March 15, 1968; two children, Kathryn Faith Mattia of Ft. Loudon, and James Michael Mattia and wife Dale Lynn of Accokeek, MD; two grandchildren, Jessica Lynn and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Mattia of Accokeek, MD; three siblings, Robert Dixon and wife Laura of Orbisonia, PA, Diane Williams and husband Paul of Fayetteville, PA, and Sharon Lynne Iseli and husband Vernon of Beltsville, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Connie is preceded in death by her brother, Linden Brook Dixon.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Dale Scoville and Pastor Melanie Dixon will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
