Crawford McNew

C. Dean McNew, 80, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Quincy Home. Born September 8, 1943 in Fayetteville, he was a son of the late Wallace B. and Jean R. Powell McNew. Dean was a 1961 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He served honorably with the US Air Force for 35 years, retiring in 1998 and had been stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, DE for most of his military career. Dean played lead guitar in several bands while living in Delaware and in the 1980s was a member of a band that won first place at the Delaware State Fair. He also participated in Civil War re-enacting for 10 years and was an avid golfer. Dean attended LifePoint Church in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ellen "Ellie" Hill McNew, whom he married May 23, 2015; five step-children, Sarah Edick (Jason), Jesse Harris (Brock), Katerina Weicht (Andy), Christina Standridge (Jay), and Andrew Merica (Lillie); ten step-grandchildren; his sister, Vickie McNew Brookens (fiancé Harry); and his brother W. Lee McNew (Linda). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and high school sweetheart, Sue Reasner McNew on June 14, 2013, and a sister, Lois Lentz.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2023 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Douglas Poffenberger will officiate. The family will receive friends from Noon until the service begins at 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard immediately following the service in the funeral home parking lot. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
