Cynthia Strait

Cynthia K. Strait, 57, of Orrstown, PA, passed away Sunday morning, January 26, 2014 at Hershey Medical Center. Born July 2, 1956 in Bedford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl G. and Grace A. Welsh Imler. A 1975 graduate of the Bedford High School, Cynthia went on to graduate from the Johnstown School of Arts. A homemaker most of her life she had also been employed with the US Postal Service as a clerk at the Walnut Bottom and Upper Strasburg Post Offices. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Orrstown. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, flower arranging, and cooking. She greatly enjoyed her regular trips to the Amish store in Newburg. Cynthia loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Raymond R. Strait; four children, Cathy Jo Benz and husband Brian “Steve” of Upper Strasburg, Jennifer Gorman and husband Joel of Shippensburg, Jessica Clark of Orrstown, and Austin Strait and wife Jennifer of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Summer Gorman, Savannah Benz, Jasmine Benz, Bradley Gorman, and Eric Benz; a grandson to be born soon; and her brother, Jeffrey Imler and wife Michelle of Newburg. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Grifford Imler in 2009.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Richard Randall officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Bedford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home and all attending are asked to wear red in Cynthia’s memory.
