Dale E. Eberly, 83, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Brookview Health Care Center. Born February 7, 1938 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Merle W. and Pearl E. Rife Eberly.
Dale was employed as a production director with the Public Opinion for 33 years until his retirement. He then worked as a school bus driver for 11 years. Dale attended Antrim Brethren In Christ Church and was a member of the Izaak Walton League in Chambersburg. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Thelma L. Horst Eberly, whom he married on June 28, 1958; three children, Carla Goshorn and husband Larry of Chambersburg, Kirk Eberly and wife Kim of York, and Keith Eberly and wife Tonya of St. Thomas; six grandchildren, Jenna Crider and Kyle, Korey, Lauren, Erica and Madison Eberly; three step grandchildren, Bradley, Corey and Clayton Scruggs; five great grandchildren; and four siblings, Richard Eberly of Chambersburg, Ray Eberly of Fayetteville, Eunice Glick of Lancaster, and Norma Riehl of Lancaster. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by two step-fathers, Merle Lehman and Avery Musser; and a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Eberly.
Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Attn: Donor Services, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
