Dallas Strait

Dallas Strait, 86, of Greencastle, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 7, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home. Born September 26, 1931 in Harrisonville, PA, he was the 13th child of the late Thurman and Annie (Pyne) Strait.
Dallas was an Entrepreneur at heart. He was involved with numerous ventures with his most notable being Strait Steel, Inc. in Greencastle, PA, where he was the Founder, Past President, and CEO. Dallas was very proud of his family for their work in supporting and continuing the family business. Dallas also served in the US Army during the Korean conflict where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for bravery. He was always a very hard working man, but always found time for his family and friends.
He is survived by Phyllis, his loving wife of 67 years; two sons, Greg and wife Sue, Daniel and wife Aprile Sue; two daughters, Debra Crouse and husband Larry, Susan Tornetta and husband Charles; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Dorothy Seiders of Chambersburg; and one brother, Paul of Johnstown. He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to the following caregivers who made sure Dallas was cared for in his last years before his passing; Annette Blowers, Cathy Brown, Lydia Brown, Sandy Grisson, Rebecca Grosh, Amy Kreischer, Julia McCleaf, Kimberly Ruby, Heather Sheppard, and Brittany Parsley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Ebenezer United Brethren Church, 3661 Williamson Road, Greencastle, PA, with Pastor David Grove officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday at the church. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
