David Albert

David E. Albert, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Saturday, October 31, 2015. Born in Highspire, PA, he was the son of the late Richard J. Albert, Sr. and Frances A. Weindenhammer Albert.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Albert served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Albert was a 1951 graduate of Highspire High School and a 1959 graduate of Penn State-York. He was employed as a Mechanical Designer for Landis Tool for 40 years. Mr. Albert is a member of the First Church of God, a life member of VFW Post 1599, and AARP #2840. He and his wife enjoyed volunteering at Menno Haven and delivering Meals on Wheels. In addition, Mr. Albert enjoyed singing with the Joy Choral and quartet singing with various quartets.
Surviving is his wife 53 years, Doris L. Albert, whom he married on October 7, 1962, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard J. Albert, Jr., a sister, Harriet E. Weindenhammer, and an Aunt, Stella MacDonald.
A memorial service will be held to honor his life on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at 12 noon at The Chambersburg First Church of God, 2230 Grand Point Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Lawrence Metzler, Chaplain Vernon Isner, and will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and address above. A private graveside service will be held in Lincoln Cemetery, where members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard will provide military honors. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
