David Grooms

David Ray Grooms, 65, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at his home. Born September 11, 1957 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Franklin Grooms, Jr., and Lillian R. (Snyder) Grooms.

David was a 1975 graduate of CASHS. A US Army veteran, he served honorably from 1975 – 1979. He was employed as a machinist at TB Woods in Chambersburg and later at Letterkenny Army Depot. Most recently, he was employed as a safety coordinator at Letterkenny. David enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, being outdoors and going for rides in the mountains.

He is survived by his wife, Connie K. (Leedy) Grooms; seven children, Christopher Grooms (wife Emily) of Harrisburg, Wesley Grooms (wife Regina) of Fayetteville, Jeremiah Grooms (wife Melissa) of Chambersburg, James Grooms (Sheryl) of McConnellsburg, Daniel Grooms (wife Ashley) of CO, Shawn Lehman (Connie) of Chambersburg, and Matthew Lehman (Emily) of Chambersburg; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and three siblings, Wesley “Bill” Grooms (wife Debbie), Betty Wolford (husband Jeffrey) and Shelly Grooms, all of Fayetteville. Aside from his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse F. Grooms and Jay Grooms.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Greenvillage Church of God, 5164 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Matt Tosten will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
