David G. Hallett, 56, of Chambersburg, PA, died Friday evening, November 8, 2013 in York Hospital. Born August 18, 1957 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late Harry Hallett, Sr. and Berniece King Hallett. He retired from the Franklin County Communications Center where he worked as a 911 Dispatcher. He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot and was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1988 for his life saving efforts on a downed soldier in Waskerheim, Germany. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1426, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #842, and the Franklin Fire Company, all in Chambersburg. His hobbies included Civil War history, especially the Battle of Gettysburg, deep sea fishing, traveling, and spending time with his grandsons.
He is survived by two daughters, Holly Hallett of Chambersburg and Heather Scott and husband Brian of Chambersburg; three grandsons, Sean and Noah Scott, and Parker Bates; three sisters, Kathryn Herold and husband Donald of Ocala, FL, Wanda Pottorff of Jacksonville, FL, and Anita Shields of Chambersburg; and a brother, Harry E. “Gene” Hallett, Jr. wife Susan of Shippensburg.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Fr. Jose Meara officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
