David Owens

November 9, 1949 — March 23, 2016

David N. “Tiny” Owens, 66, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 9, 1949 in Ft. Meade, MD, he was the son of the late Luther N. Owens and Pauline Baily Barrett.

A U.S. Army veteran, David served honorably in Vietnam. He was employed as a route driver for Pepsi-Cola in Newville for 33 years until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Chambersburg and enjoyed fishing in New York, watching NASCAR and traveling to Florida and North and South Carolina to visit family.

David is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sheila Carson Owens, whom he married on September 17, 1990; his step-son, Tracey Richard of Fayetteville; a sister, Cheryl Shultz and husband Robert of Carlisle; three nephews, Scott Paynter and wife Terri of Newville, John Paynter and wife Cameron of Midlothian, TX, and Edward Paynter and wife Jennifer of Carlisle; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his step-mother, Ruby Owens.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 28, 2016 in New Testament Baptist Church, 5444 Cumberland Hwy, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Marlin Fleck will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to New Testament Baptist Church at the above address.
