David R. Shrader, 64, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at his home. Born May 5, 1950 in Chambersburg, he was the son of Helen L. Haas Shrader of Chambersburg and the late Richard R. Shrader. A 1968 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Dave was a Tool and Die Maker having worked at the former AMP in Carlisle, and then for Tyco until the plant’s closing. He was last employed by Sylvania, retiring in June of 2013. An avid hunter and trap shooter, Dave was a member of the Nimrods and the St. Thomas Sportsman’s Association. He also held membership in Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #842. He was a car enthusiast and especially enjoyed his 1941 Willys. He was a member of the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association and the National Street Rod Association as well as a past member of the Motor Knights.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hare Shrader, whom he married January 29, 1972; his son, Jason R. Shrader of Shippensburg; his daughter, Emily M. Spencer and husband Josh of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Kierstin and Alexis Shrader, and Madison Spencer; and his sister, Carol Shrader of St. Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Monday, December 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Donald C. Nolder officiating. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
