David C. Simpson, Sr., 81, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Born July 1, 1942 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Mary Miller Simpson.
Dave was a 1960 graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School and a US Army veteran. He was employed as a supervisor at J. Schoeneman in Chambersburg and later was the owner/operator of Dave’s Home Tax Service. He also sold clothing, toys and collectables at flea markets for many years. An avid Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Tigers fan, Dave enjoyed watching both football and baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Donna Bricker Simpson, whom he married on September 20, 1990; two children, Tracy E. Rutz (Rob) of Mechanicsburg, and David C. Simpson, Jr. (Misty Pensinger) of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Whitney Rutz, Braquel Rutz, and Tanner Rutz; two step-children, Angela Freeman of Blue Ridge Summit, and Brian Wagaman of South Mountain; three step-grandchildren, Allen Freeman, Heather Freeman and Samantha Freeman; and four step-great grandchildren, Reagan, Marley, Jameson and Octavia. Aside from his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Simpson; and five siblings, Beverly Lyke, Lois Fickes, Ernest Simpson, Betty French and Jenny Owens.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2024 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Lee E. Daywalt will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Strang’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
