David “Fred” Sprenkle, Sr., 78, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at York Hospital. Born July 7, 1944 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Daniel Quinter and Catherine Bender Sprenkle.
Fred was employed in the maintenance department at Nitterhouse Concrete Products in Chambersburg until his retirement after over 40 years of service. He attended St. James United Brethren Church in Chambersburg. Fred enjoyed farming, gardening, cutting firewood, being outdoors, and most of all, he loved reading his Bible. He also enjoyed spending time with his family at his cabin. Fred was a humble and Godly man, well loved by many, and with a heart of gold.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Esther M. Nicarry Sprenkle, whom he married on September 5, 1964; four children, Fred Sprenkle, Jr. and wife Dory of Schaefferstown, Rose Bross of Lititz, Crist Sprenkle and wife Adrienne of Lewisberry, and Todd Sprenkle of Chambersburg; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three siblings, Ned Sprenkle of Chambersburg, C.B. Sprenkle of St. Thomas, and Beth Long of Chambersburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Antietam Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
