David Miller Weir, aged 67, passed away on January 24th, 2021 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. David was born December 3rd, 1953 to David Weir and Mary Weir in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Growing up on the Middle Spring farm helped him form a deep love of nature. Baltimore Orioles, Columbine wild flowers, and Spring Peepers were fond memories of his childhood. David graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Special Education and received his Master’s in Education from Shippensburg University. He earned his private pilot’s license and operated his own Piper PA-12 taildragger. He worked as a Special Education Teacher at the Lincoln Intermediate Unit No. 12 until his retirement in 2013.
After his retirement he relocated to Wyoming where he spent his days watching eagles, moose, antelope, deer and elk between fly fishing trips. When he wasn’t fishing or enjoying time with friends, he dedicated his time to playing and teaching bagpipes, making fly-rods, and building black powder guns.
David is survived by his sons, Ian (Willow) and Dylan (Bailie); and his grandchildren, Finnegan, Maelle, Hayden, Abrial, Rylan, and Jalene. He is also survived by his sister Mary (Donald) and many beloved family members and friends across the country.
No formal services will be held. Friends and family will gather at a later date to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a contribution in David’s name, we suggest any organization focused on natural conservation and education.
