Dawn Kauffman

Dawn E. (Russell) Kauffman, 54, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, October 4, 2015. Born September 12, 1961 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Chester Leroy and Edith Lucille (Newingham) Russell. Dawn was a 1979 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was employed as a waitress at the Route 30 Family Restaurant (formerly Chris’s Country Kitchen) in Chambersburg for the past 14 years. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. She loved Pepsi; was an avid bingo and lottery player; and liked to collect flamingos and elephants. Known to many as “Big Foot”, Dawn will be remembered as a kind and caring person with an infectious smile.

A beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, she is survived by four children, Crystal Shauf and husband Matthew of Shippensburg, Jeremy Kauffman of Shippensburg, Tyler Kauffman of Huntingdon, and Justin Kauffman and wife Kristen of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; and one additional grandchild due on December 6, 2015. She is also survived by a sister, Linda Shetter of Florida; a brother, David Russell and wife Dana of Shippensburg; and an uncle, Ronald Russell of Red Lion.

A memorial service to celebrate Dawn’s life will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Chambersburg First Church of God, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM at the church. Interment will be private.
