Dean A. Creager, 79, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday evening, December 12, 2016 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA. Born September 12, 1937 in Upton, PA, he was a son of the late Albert and Zella Schultz Creager. Dean worked as a carpenter at Homes by Keystone, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Letterkenny Rod and Gun Club, the American Bowling Congress, and the Edenville Ruritan Club. Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, softball, helping his family, mushroom hunting, and trapping.
He is survived by his wife, Christy G. Cauffman Creager, whom he married July 2, 1957; five children, Susan M. Robinson ( Steven) of St. Thomas, Donald L. Creager (Rae Belle) of Chambersburg, Brenda K. Hockenberry (Barry “George”) of Doylesburg, David D. Creager (Traci) of Chambersburg, and Joann L. Houpt (Michael Churchey) of Marion; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Steven II, Tommy, Justin, and Karlie; four great-grandchildren, Brooke, Kendle, Gavin, and Maddox; his sister, Dorothy Coldsmith (John); and his brother, Roy Creager (Betty). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Creager; his twin sister, Jean Walls; and six additional siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 16, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Harold E. Yeager will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday and from 9:00-10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
