Debbie S. Seville, 64, of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, died peacefully in her sleep on September 5, 2018, surrounded by her family at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on March 7, 1954 in McConnellsburg, PA, she is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Dorothy (Henry) Keebaugh.
Debbie retired from the Lincoln Intermediate Unit in 2017 where she devoted her 34-year career to serving Franklin County’s special needs children at the Franklin Learning Center. She also worked part time at Heritage Hills as an in-home care giver.
Debbie loved to be in the sun and wanted to be anywhere that was near water, one of her favorite places to visit was Ocean City, MD with her best friend and love of her life, Jack Miller, of McConnellsburg. When she wasn’t at the beach, you would likely find her outside in her yard tending to her flowers or, in a rare moment of down time, sitting in her patio chair basking in the sun. She passionately loved her children but there’s no denying the fact that Debbie’s grandchildren were her heart and joy. Debbie was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family at “Gram’s house”, especially over the holidays. In addition to her family, Debbie had many, many friends because anyone that had the privilege of meeting her instantly became a lifelong friend.
Debbie leaves behind three children, her daughter Tammy Seville of Hagerstown, MD, and sons Larry Seville of Mercersburg, PA, and Tony Seville of York, PA. She is also survived by her three beloved grandchildren, Carter Tacelosky of Hagerstown, MD, and Chance Seville, and Cheyenne Barnes of Mercersburg, PA. As the youngest sibling out of eight children, she is survived by brother Doug Keebaugh of McConnellsburg, and three sisters, Darlene Helman of Fayetteville, Cheryl Alleman (husband Roger) of Chambersburg, and Delores Mills of Greencastle. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Debbie devoted her life to taking care of others however fate took a different path for this beautiful sole when she was diagnosed with cancer in April 2017. Upon the diagnosis, her personal motto became “onward and upward” to remind herself and everyone around her to stay positive and keep moving forward. Throughout her fight, even at every setback, Debbie never once lost her positive attitude or complained. During this time of tremendous grief, she would certainly be telling us now - it’s onward and upward.
A service to celebrate Debbie’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 10, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday and from 1:00-2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
