Deborah S. “Debbie” Heinbaugh, 48, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2015 at her home. Born April 27, 1967 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of Mary Catherine Atherton and the late Kenneth Atherton, Sr.
Debbie was a graduate of James Buchanan High School. She was employed as a clerk at Snider’s Jewelers in Mercersburg for 10 years and most recently was self-employed as a housekeeper. Debbie was a member of Clayton Memorial Church in Mercersburg. She loved reading, crocheting, cooking and baking. A loving wife, mother and daughter, her passions were caring for her family, pets and especially her dog Dockens who was with her when she passed.
In addition to her mother, Debbie is survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert E. Heinbaugh, Jr. whom she married in 1987; two children, Ashley Rene Heinbaugh (fiancé Nathan Hollinshead) of Mercersburg, and Lucas James Heinbaugh of Kittery, ME; and her brother, Kenneth Atherton, Jr. (fiancé Melissa Martin) of Mercersburg.
A memorial service to honor Debbie’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Clayton Memorial Church, 6701 Charlestown Rd, Mercersburg, PA 17236. Pastor Marcus Abernethy will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deborah Heinbaugh Memorial Fund at BB&T Bank, 316 N Main St, Mercersburg, PA 17236.
