Della Lockbaum

Della S Lockbaum, 96, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at her home. Born on September 23, 1916 in Hamilton Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Russel and Emma Lehman Shatzer. Following graduation from Chambersburg High School, Della worked at the Stanley Company, a manufacturer of men’s suits, and at Letterkenny Army Depot. From 1949 until their retirement in 1998, she and her husband operated Creston E Lockbaum, Inc, a sheet metal fabrication business. She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church and Mustard Seed Sunday School Class. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother whose numerous other interests included reading, sewing and knitting. She was also for many years an avid genealogist and held memberships in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists and the National Huguenot Society.

In addition to her parents, Della was preceded in death on August 5, 2007 by her husband of 66 years, Creston Lockbaum, by three sisters, Edna Condon, Treva Lawyer and Melda Burkholder, and by one brother, Garnet Shatzer.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Jane Sanders (husband Jerry) of Fayetteville, NC and Lois Deptulski (husband Thomas) of Detroit, MI, one son, Ray Lockbaum (wife Paulette) of Chambersburg, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, John Shatzer (Chambersburg), Frank Shatzer (Chambersburg) and Blaine Shatzer (Middletown, MD) and two sisters: Beda Stouffer (Chambersburg) and June Fahnestock (Chambersburg).

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd, Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment in Lincoln Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to the American Heart Association or other charity of the donor’s choice.
