Delores V. Crownhart, age 88, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away in her home on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Born February 6, 1926 in Lewis, WI, she was the daughter of the late Nealie Hanson and Dagny Grytness Hanson. Having lost her mother at age 6, she was raised on a farm by her aunt and uncle, Katie and Ernest Friberg. She met her future husband in high school, and married Irwin Crownhart on November 25, 1944. They were together 55 years, and had two children: Carmen and Roger. Irwin was in the military, and Delores moved with him 28 times during his Naval career, living in many places around the world. Two of the most interesting places were Adak, Alaska, an island on the Aleutian chain, and Ethiopia, Africa. Delores was mainly a homemaker and a fantastic cook and baker, a skill she passed down through the generations. She truly enjoyed learning about local customs during her travels and making use of the foods and flavors she encountered at each new assignment. She was a skilled seamstress resulting in many crocheted afghans and bedspreads as well as beautiful clothing that included evening dresses and prom gowns.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband Irwin, son Roger, and three brothers, Wesley, Nealie, and Merle Hanson. She is survived by her daughter Carmen Smith (husband Clifford); her sister Eldora Brown; her grandchildren Cheryl Smith, Wade Keesee, Brad Keesee (wife Stacey), Bonnie Robinson (husband Matt), Steven Smith, and Trena Tharp (husband Kevin); great-grandchildren Crystal Enderle, Jacob LeMasters, John Spurlock, Kennedie Ramsey, Kayla Smith, and Caitlynn Sample, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
