Delores Jean Varner Holch, age 85, of Amberson, PA, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Born May 10, 1932, at home in Shippensburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Marjorie and Harry Varner.
Delores spent her life as a homemaker, caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was gifted in many arts including incredible sewing, crocheting, upholstering, crafting, oil and china painting, furniture refinishing, antiquing and collecting. Delores always had a soft spot for her adopted and rescue dogs and always looked out for animals of all kinds.
Surviving are her daughters, Kimberly Edgcomb (Les) of Rockford, Illinois and Debra Hudgins (Chris) of Harleysville, PA; grandmother of Kathryn Edgcomb of North Barrington, Illinois, Mark (Alise) Edgcomb of Denver, Colorado, and Jennifer (Ian) Burnett of Golden, Colorado; great-grandmother of Brianca Burnett of Golden, Colorado; and sister of Donald Varner (Lolin) of Shippensburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Samuel Wilson Holch on February 12, 2005, whom she married on February 26, 1952, and her siblings, June Varner Harlow, Margieann Varner Piper, Pete Varner, James Varner, Calvin Varner. The family extends special love and thanks to Michael Harlow, nephew, who gave his aunt Dee much loving time and attention through the years. Michael was like a son to Delores and a brother to daughters Kim and Deb and many thanks to the close neighbors of Amberson Valley who visited and kept an eye out for their friend and neighbor Delores.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 1:00 PM in Amberson Union Cemetery, Amberson, PA, where Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil will officiate.
