Dennis D. Griffith, 65, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 14, 1950 in Somerset, PA, he was a son of Charles Thomas and Wilma Jean Bittner Griffith.
Denny was a 1969 graduate of Somerset High School. Right after graduating, Denny began working for Somerset Township. He then worked with his father and brother Don at McConnellsburg Auto Parts, Grove Manufacturing for 11 years, United Rentals in Frederick, MD, HEB Equipment in State Line, PA, and lastly JLG as a parts coordinator for 15 years until his retirement in May of 2015. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hall. Denny enjoyed going to the ocean and sitting on the boardwalk, watching NASCAR and rooting for Dale Earnhardt, Jr., going to auctions and in his younger days working on cars.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sara Ellen Keefer Griffith, whom he married on April 15, 1973; his son, Kevin Eugene Griffith of Ft. Loudon; his brother, Terry Lee Griffith (Nancy) of Berlin, PA; his sister-in-law, Cindy Griffith of St. Thomas; brother-in-law, John Working of Emmitsburg, MD; and four nieces and two nephews. In addition to his parents, Denny is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Roy Griffith; and sister-in-law, Margaretta Keefer Working.
A memorial service to honor Denny’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 31, 2015 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Ruth Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
