Dennis Gregory “Denny” Jones, 54, of Chambersburg, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD. Born on January 4, 1958 in Clarksville, TN, he was a son of Julie Smith Jones of Fayetteville and the late Jay L. Jones.

A 1975 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Denny served his country with the U.S. Air Force. He was the owner and President of Jones Fire Extinguishers, Inc. in Fayetteville. Retired from the Chambersburg Borough Fire Dept., he was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, the VFW Post 1599, and the Chambersburg Club. Denny was also a life member at Franklin Fire Company and Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department. He was also one of Fayetteville’s first junior members.

Aside from his mother, Denny is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Diana Purnell Jones, whom he married on April 11, 1987; three children, Marshall Jones of Germany, Kirsten Shoop (and husband, Tom) of Chambersburg, and Courtney Jones (and fiancé Cory Sullivan) of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Jasmine, Dylan and Abigail; and a sister, Joelle. He was preceded in death by his father and grandmother, Gladys Fix. He adored his family more than anything in the world.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 26, in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Lester F. Stine officiating. Military honors by members of VFW Post 1599 and a private final ride in a Chambersburg Borough Fire Engine will follow. Interment will be private. Viewing hours will be held at the funeral home Monday from 1:00-8:00 PM, with the family present from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
