Derek Weller

Derek L. Weller, 37, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Born March 31, 1984 in Chambersburg, he was the son of Rodney L. and Michelle (Polk) Weller.
A 2002 graduate of Greencastle – Antrim High School, Derek has since been employed as a machinist at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for the past 12 years. He had a love for riding his Harley with his dad, as well as fixing cars, and being outdoors hunting and fishing. He was skilled at cooking, grilling and smoking meat. He enjoyed fixing up the house with his wife, and spending time with their daughter and dogs, Xara and Gunner.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 6 years, Malissa (Smith) Weller, whom he married on May 30, 2015; daughter Mackenzie Bowman; sister Ashley Grove (Chad); paternal grandfather, Lawrence “Larry” Boose; two nephews Rylan and Garrett; niece Makenna; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Boose; maternal grandparents, David Polk and Mary Kriner; cousin, Peyton Truett; uncle, Chip Boose; and grandfather in law, Wayne Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Don Drury will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the funeral home before the service. Interment will be private.
