Dessie Deatrick

Dessie Mountain Deatrick, age 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 5, 1935, in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Oro and Dolly Reighard Mountain.

Mrs. Deatrick was a sales associate at Sears for more than 25 years and a nursery school teacher at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren for a number of years. She was a member of Chambersburg Church of the Brethren and Cornerstone Church of Christ, AARP, and Loving Hearts Widow Group. She enjoyed painting, and a cup of hot tea with cookies.

She is survived by three children, Donna Bonitz (husband Edward) of Shippensburg, PA, Doug Deatrick (wife Maggie) of Evans, GA, and Jody Spencer (husband Steven) of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren, Josh Spencer (wife Emily), Lauren Stump (husband Brad), and Tony Bonitz; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Reese Spencer; and four siblings, Wilbur (wife Marian) of Harrisburg, PA, Robert of New Enterprise, PA, Paul (wife Penny) of Roaring Springs, PA, and Merle Mountain of Anchorage, AK. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth R. Deatrick in 2006 and three siblings, Eugene Mountain, Ura Eichelberger, and Pearl Clark.

Funeral services will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 2 PM at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 South Fourth St., Chambersburg, PA 17201, where Pastor Darlene Stouffer will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 22, 2016, from 6 – 8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in St. Thomas Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made in her name to the above church and address or the Cornerstone Church of Christ, 1350 Tallow Hill Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
