Diana M. (Campas) Alexiou, 91, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in her home surrounded by her family. Born June 7, 1931 in Plymouth, PA she was the daughter of the late James and Anna (Yakob) Campas.
She was a graduate of Plymouth High School. Diana then went on to obtain her associates degree from Wilkes College, Wilkes Barre, PA. Following that she completed an internship in the Scranton State Hospital Laboratory, Scranton, PA. After completing her education Diana was employed as a registered medical technologist at Nanticoke State Hospital Laboratory from 1952 until 1957; Chambersburg Hospital Laboratory from 1958 until 1964; and Physicians Clinical Laboratory from 1965 until 1975. In 1975 she started her position as medical assistant technologist for Dr. Michael Donahoe, Dr. Ronald Schlansky, and Dr. George Baker until her retirement in 1984.
Diana was a member and first vice president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary as well as Chaplain, president of Pennsylvania State Police Ladies Auxiliary and president of the Chambersburg Polka Charity Committee. She was also a 50 year member of the Registry of Medical Technologists American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She enjoyed shopping, hosting parties and family gatherings, cooking, drinking wine, collecting Gone with The Wind memorabilia, traveling and going to PA State Police Conventions with her husband. Diana enjoyed Polka Charities and fundraising with dinner dance events.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Gus Alexiou who she married September 7, 1957; two children, James Alexiou and his wife Sharon of Leesburg, VA and Ann Ashburn and her husband Brad of Waynesboro, PA; nine grandchildren, Mitchell Ashburn (Julia Rodriguez), Kristina Ashburn, Paul Alexiou (Abbye), Sarah Alexiou, Rachel Alexiou, Miriam Alexiou, Christopher Alexiou, and Natasha Alexiou; two sisters-in-law, Mary Alexiou and Stella Deakos; a nephew John Alex Alexiou and a niece, Eva Alexiou Reo. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, John Alexiou; in-laws, John and Efstratia (Mbakalatzis) Alexiou; and brother-in-law, George Alexiou.
Services will be held 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 4, 2023 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Fr. Michael Varvarelis officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening as well as from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Saturday morning in the funeral home.
