Diana Shatzer

Diana R. (Koons) Shatzer, 79 of St. Thomas, PA passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 in her home. Born June 25, 1944 in Chambersburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Louis M. Koons, Sr. and Cora E. (Houser) Koons.
She was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1962. Diana was an orchard grower alongside her husband, Jim at Shatzer’s Orchard of Edenville. She enjoyed country music, cooking, reading and tending her flower garden. Diana was a very family oriented person with natural caretaking abilities and a great sense of humor.
Diana is survived by; two daughters, Stephanie Shatzer (husband Kevin Neidig) of Dillsburg, PA and Jamie Fahnestock (husband Richie) of St. Thomas, PA; one grandson, Lloyd James Fahnestock; and a brother, Louis M. Koons, Jr. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. “Jim” “Tootsie” Shatzer and a brother, Gary F. Koons.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 24, 2023 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, with Chaplain Duane Musgrove officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday afternoon in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of Washington County, 11370 Caring Pathway Lane, Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to Franklin Hospice, 209 Grant St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
