Dolores A. Bernhardt Rupert, age 79, of Orrstown, PA and formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away in her home on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Born July 3, 1932 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Alma Bradley Weaver.
Mrs. Rupert was a long time employee at Papa Dino’s Pizzas and Herr and Company in Lancaster; she then went on with her husband, the late Edgar B. Rupert, whom she married on November 12, 1974, to own and operate Rupert’s Meat Market and Rupert’s Restaurant in Orrstown. Dolores enjoyed making crafts and travelling; she was most proud of her two trips to Russia, where she went on missions for the Josh McDowell ministry, visiting orphanages and delivering care packages.
Surviving are four children, Robert W. Wettig (wife Jan) of Lancaster, PA; Darlene Givens (husband Frank) of Altoona, PA; Arlene Wettig of Lancaster, PA; and George T. Wettig (wife Cookie) of Lancaster, PA, four step-children, William Rupert (wife Carol) of Chambersburg, PA; Donna Oberholzer of Chambersburg, PA; David Rupert (wife Carol) of Virginia; and Randy Rupert (wife Ronita) of Shippensburg, PA, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one sibling, Donald Weaver (wife Mary Anne) of California.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10 AM; where Rev. Garry Culler will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, 2509 Black Gap Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
