Don R. Collins, 81, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024 in Chambersburg Skilled Nursing. Born January 14, 1943 in Dearborn, MI he was the son of the late Tilford and Vesta V. (Baker) Collins.

He served with the United States Navy during Vietnam from January 3, 1969 until his honorable discharge October 27, 1970. Don was employed as a custodian for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for a number of years at various locations including Shippensburg University and Scotland School for Veterans Children. Don was a life member of Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 and a member of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 both in Chambersburg. He enjoyed tinkering on cars and playing computer games.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Margaret G. (Heckman) Collins; three sons, Thomas R. Collins, Kenneth E. Collins, and Don R. Collins, II and a number of step-children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in Norland Cemetery, 2295 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Rev. John Heckman officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Honor Guard of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg. Arrangements are by the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
