Donald L. Eby, 73, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday morning, November 2, 2014 at Menno Haven. Born January 23, 1941 in Washington County, MD, he was a son of the late Allan and Naomi Showalter Eby. Mr. Eby was an employee and later a partner at Lehman’s Egg Service in Chambersburg for 46 years, retiring in 2010. After retiring he volunteered as a driver at Menno Haven. He was a member and former Trustee of Marion Mennonite Church; served as a board member at the Cove Valley Christian Youth Camp; and was the founder and Past President of an area church softball league. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Eby enjoyed hunting and golfing. He also had an interest in antique tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Martin Eby, whom he married September 22, 1963; three sons, Duane Eby and wife Jayne of Fisher, IL, L. Alan Eby and wife Kristin of Harrisonburg, VA, and Brad Eby and wife Lisa of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Christopher, Alyssa, Colton, Kylie, Kelsey, and Bradon Eby; a brother, Elwood Eby and wife Sharon of State Line, PA; and two sisters, Thelma Martin and husband Ken of Chambersburg and Wanda Horst and husband Dale of Greencastle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene (Mrs. Jason) Baer; and a brother, Richard Eby.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 7, 2014 at Marion Mennonite Church, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Blaine Detwiler and Pastor Connie Detwiler officiating. Private interment, prior to the service, will be in the adjoining church cemetery officiated by Pastor Carl Kniss. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Marion Mennonite Church.
