Donald Kenneth Hayhurst, age 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on March 6, 2016, at his home. Born October 24, 1929, in Kankakee, IL, he was the son of the late Kenneth Hayhurst and Doris Perkins Hayhurst.
A 1948 graduate of Momence Community High School, Mr. Hayhurst went on to serve in the Korean Conflict in the US Army from 1951 – 1953. He later graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1956. Mr. Hayhurst worked for 27 years as a purchasing agent for Art Wire Doduco, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Chambersburg First Church of God. He enjoyed reading and farming.
Surviving is his wife of 7 years, Isabel Lane Hayhurst, whom he married in 2009; two children, Corinne Nelson of Westwood, NJ and David Hayhurst of Shippensburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, and Sarah Nelson and Jessica Brigante and Julianne, Gregory, and Benjamin Hayhurst; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara McIlveen Hayhurst and his second wife, Adis Revels Henry Hayhurst; three children, Brian, Mark, and Steven Hayhurst; and two siblings, Ronald and Darlene Hayhurst.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 2:30 PM at the Chambersburg First Church of God, 2230 Grand Point Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202; where Pastor Lawrence Metzler and Paster Don Drury will officiate. Military honors will be performed by Members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. Interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Campaign at the Chambersburg First Church of God at the above address or to Spiritrust Lutheran Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
