Donald L. Helmuth, 79, of Marion, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 at his home. Born June 9, 1936, he was a son of the late William and Mildred Kline Helmuth.
Donald worked as a die maker for James River for 38 years until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of Heidelberg Church of Marion and a life member of the Marion Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed playing golf, watching and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time at the fire house in Marion.
Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, W. Jane Helmuth, whom he married on September 22, 1956; three children, Craig Helmuth (wife Amy) of Camp Hill, PA, Bradley Helmuth of Marion, and Tonya Craven (husband Mark) of Smyrna, DE; five grandchildren, Courtney Helmuth, Sam Helmuth, Amber Hartung (husband Travis), Ashley Helmuth, and Caleb Cannon; two great-grandchildren, Kamdyn and Koby Hartung; and five siblings, Lillian Ingram, Catherine Metz, Pauline Winters, and Julia Huhn, all of Chambersburg, and Margaret Binner of GA. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by three brothers, William, Glen and Charles Helmuth; and two sisters, Janice Rotz and Helen Hepfer.
A memorial service to honor Donald’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Heidelberg Church of Marion, 166 Colorado St. Marion, PA 17235. Rev. David Riley and Chaplain Adam Leeper will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
