Donald W. Plezia, age 83, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Detroit, MI, on October 16, 1934, he was a son of the late Walter and Wanda Plezia.
Mr. Plezia earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in June 1957. Mr. Plezia served honorably after the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army from 11/57 to 11/59. He worked for Chrysler Corporation for over 26 years, retiring in August 1992 as a Quality Assurance Executive. He enjoyed sailing, researching the civil war, woodworking, and coaching soccer.
Mr. Plezia was preceded in death his wife, Joyce of 51 years and a daughter, Rebecca. Surviving are three children, Elizabeth Turner of Stanhope, NJ, Peter Plezia of Greencastle, PA, and Matthew Plezia (wife Suzanne) of Huntington Beach, CA; seven grandchildren, Ellen, Benjamin, Nathan, Ian, Jacqueline, Eric, and Sean; a sister, Sandra Dmoch (husband James) of Sun City, AZ; and a sister in law, Joan Bernacik (husband Mitch).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Murray B. Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 16 from 10 - 1130 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
