Donald Scalise

Donald L. Scalise, 87, a resident of the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday morning, November 16, 2015 in the nursing home. Born October 11, 1928 in Warren, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Costello Scalise. He was a graduate of the Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie and earned and Associate Degree from the Carnegie Institute. Mr. Scalise served with the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed early in his life as a Laboratory Technician at hospitals in Ohio, Texas, and California. He retired in 1995 from Letterkenny Army Depot with more than thirty years of federal service. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, was a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #963 in Warren, and a member of Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion, St. Thomas, PA, Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW and BPO Elks Lodge #600, both in Chambersburg. He enjoyed reading and watching sports.

Donald is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Janet A. Drake Scalise, whom he married October 7, 1967; his daughter, Ann Marie Starliper and husband Darren of Greencastle; and three grandchildren, Drake, Brady, and Carter Starliper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg, PA. The Very Reverend Luis R. Rodriguez, V.F. will officiate. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 23, 2015 in the Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Erie, PA. The family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00 PM Friday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Glenmary Home Missioners, PO Box 465618, Cincinnati, OH 45246-5618 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Corpus Christ Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
