Donald R. Sherman, age 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 28, 1937, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John and Mary Shoemaker Sherman.
A veteran, Mr. Sherman served honorably in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Post 1599, the Marine Corps League, and the American Legion all in Chambersburg. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.
Mr. Sherman is survived by his three children, Randy L. Heckman (wife Donna) of Mercersburg, PA, Vickie L. Cramer of Chambersburg, PA, and Lori A. Schaffer (husband Tom) of Fayetteville, PA; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Nancy Shrader, Mary Gustafson, William Sherman, and Sue Leonard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Heckman Sherman in 2007 and a sister, Ruth Bishal.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020, at 2 PM at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 7 from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA.
