Donald C. Strock, age 90, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Friday evening, May 29, 2015 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born March 6, 1925, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Margaret Sara Snyder Strock.
Donald was a 1943 graduate of Greencastle High School. A U.S. Army veteran, he served honorably in the Pacific Theater during World War II from 1943 – 1946 in New Guinea and the Philippines. Following his discharge from the Army, Donald began working at Letterkenny Army Depot and retired as an inspector in 1989 after over 43 years of service. Donald was a member of IRP, AARP, and a life member of the Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion in Chambersburg, the Harry D. Zeigler Post 6319 VFW in Greencastle, Rescue Hose Company #1 in Greencastle, and the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association. He was also a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Donald is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joyce E. (Piper) Strock whom he married on March 1, 1980; his brother, Harry E. Strock, Jr.; a grandson, Troy A. Fritz (Joanne) of Chambersburg; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his first wife, Vada Fritz Strock; and his sister, Helen M. Betts.
A funeral service to honor Donald’s life will be held at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, June 4, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Suzanne Elliott will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
