Donn D. Hockensmith, Jr., 80, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Chambers Pointe Healthcare Center. Born April 4, 1941 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Donn E. Hockensmith, Sr. and Arlene K. Martin Hockensmith. Donn was a 1959 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and served honorably with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at the former Hennesey Products, Inc. in Chambersburg for 40 years and later retired from Ingram Book Company where he worked for 10 years. He attended the Chambersburg Seventh Day Adventist Church with his wife Ann. Donn was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He played Trojan baseball and American Legion League ball in Waynesboro. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Donn was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies; Penn State football; the Washington Redskins; and NASCAR. His beloved wife, Eleanor “Ann” Hamman Hackenberg, whom he married February 21, 2003, preceded him in death on January 10, 2021.
He is survived by four step-children, Vickie Booher and her husband Dave of Hancock, MD, Thomas K. Hackenberg, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Spencer, WV, Jeannie Cook and her husband Darryl of Chambersburg, and Sharon Stitely and her husband Paul A. of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 6, 2021 at Lincoln Cemetery. Mr. Greg Rockwell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.
