Donna Johnson

Donna Lee Johnson, age 67, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Born on September 12, 1949, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Doris Lowery Johnson.

Ms. Johnson worked for the Greencastle Antrim School District for nearly thirty years. She had a gift for working with children, and spent the majority of her career in the Elementary School where she worked as a teacher’s assistant with the learning support section. She retired in 2015.

Affectionately described as an “outgoing introvert” by her family, Donna was a gentle and caring soul who became fast friends with everyone. Donna loved spending time in Alaska with her family, watching moose in the backyard and trying to catch a glimpse of the northern lights. Donna was also very artistic; she enjoyed painting, coloring, and word find books.

Donna was a 1967 graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Shawana Guzenski and her husband Paul of Anchorage, AK; brother, Terry Johnson and his wife Janiece of Greencastle, PA; and nephews, Robbie Johnson and his wife Annabelle, Michael Johnson and his wife Katrina, and Bobby Drake, all of Greencastle, PA. In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by one brother, John Johnson.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Sam Woolcock will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27 from 6 – 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd. W., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the American Cancer Society, 924 N. Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
