Doris Best

Doris Best, 80, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday morning, November 1, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 29, 1934 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Reuben F. and Edith G. Yeager Daugherty. Mrs. Best was a 1953 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and was employed early in her life at the former Chambersburg Trust Company. She was a homemaker most of her married life. She was a former member of Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Grindstone Hill early in her life where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was currently a member of the Chambersburg Bible Church where she was active the Awana Club, the Children’s Ministry, and the Missionary Committee at the church.

She is survived by her husband, W. Richard Best, whom she married May 30, 1959; her son, Gary R. Best and wife Kimberly of Stroudsburg, PA; and her granddaughters, Kayla Best attending West Chester University and Erin Best attending Shippensburg University.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, November 6, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Gary Yoder will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
