Doris Etter

Doris Jean “Dodie” Etter, 81, of Chambersburg, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 6, 1936, in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sarah Coy.

Doris was a graduate of Shippensburg High School. She was employed as a telephone operator for United Telephone and retired from that company. She also was the owner/operator of Continental Beauty Salon in Fayetteville. After her retirement, she and her husband lived in Florida for eleven years before returning to Chambersburg. She enjoyed traveling and visited many islands in the carribean. She also took trips to England, Germany and Italy. Her greatest joy was spending time with her granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ray L. Etter, whom she married on August 6, 1960; her son, Troy Etter and wife Marty of Chambersburg; granddaughter, Alicia Etter; and three siblings, Jack Coy of Chambersburg, Rosetta Tucker of CA, and Nancy Angst of GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Coy.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Joel Nogle will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
