October 15, 1924 — April 27, 2018

Doris I. Hoover (Bingham), age 93, of Quincy Village in Waynesboro, PA, and formerly of Liberty Street in Chambersburg, PA, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018. Doris was born on October 15, 1924, in Altoona, PA, and graduated in the class of 1942 from Altoona High School. She was the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Izetta (Stombaugh) Bingham. Her husband, Ralph Leroy Hoover, preceded her in death on September 25, 1987. Doris was a nurse at the Chambersburg Hospital in Pediatrics and at Mt. Alto Hospital from 1954 to 1959, and later she was employed by the J. Schoeneman Co. (Stanley Co.) for nineteen years. She took early retirement to care for and spend time with her ailing husband. Doris loved to listen to country music and watch cowboy movies on the television. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, and in the winter months loved to put puzzles together. At the age of 75 she took her first airplane ride to Florida to go on a country music cruise with Daryl Worley. She was a great follower of Daryl and became friends with not only him but with his parents. Doris is survived by five children, Faith Unger (Fred); Sandra Detrich (Edston); Ronald Baker (Joann); Linda Baughman (Robert); and Charles Baker (Kim); ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Doris was also preceded in death by her two brothers; Elvin Bingham of Altoona; and Clarence Bingham of Mississippi.
