Doris Mae Nester, 92, died on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the Chambersburg Hospital. She is survived by her brother, Louis Miller (97) of Olmsted Falls, Ohio and her four children: Reed (Karen) Nester of Williamsburg, VA; Todd Nester of Maplewood, NJ; Timothy Nester of Amarillo, TX; and Kathleen (Robert) Bolton of Gap, PA; three grandchildren: Matthew Nester, Michael Nester and Jonathan Bolton; two step-grandchildren: Honey Hanson and Brandie Place; five great grandchildren: Rhiannon Nester, Lilias Nester, Arianwen Nester, William Nester and Charles Nester; and one great step-grandchild: Gavin Place. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy and an infant daughter, Karen.
Doris was born on June 5, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to Louis and Lilly Miller. She attended John Adams High School in Cleveland, Ohio and received a Stenographic Certificate from Spenserian Business College also in Cleveland, Ohio.
She married her late husband, Roy Nester, on June 6, 1947. They lived briefly with her parents before moving to Flint, Michigan, moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and then settled in Winchester, Virginia in 1957. Focused on raising her family, Doris was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Winchester, Waynesboro and Chambersburg. She joined Welcome Wagon in 1968, through which she welcomed families to the Winchester area. She joined Upstart, a library resource company, in 1974 as an Office Manager in Hagerstown, MD. She retired in 1993. She and Roy moved to Waynesboro, PA in 1973 and finally to Chambersburg, PA in 2006.
Doris was a master baker and shared her delicious Christmas cookies with neighbors and friends. Her family often requested her homemade fruit pies whenever there was a chance. She also supported her husband by working alongside him in his roles as Town Crier and Wayzee the Clown.
She was a devoted, loving mother and was proud of each of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. She and her affection will be missed by her family.

A Service of Celebration will be held in the Spring of 2018. Notice will appear prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
