Doris Hambright Schellhase, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Quincy Village. Born March 29, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Robert P. and Verta Belle Kelley Hambright.
Doris was a 1950 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was employed as a receptionist at the Chambersburg Hospital for 29 ½ years until her retirement in 1996. Doris was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. She enjoyed knitting, the Philadelphia Phillies, spending time with her family and organizing bus trips with Bollman Charter Service.
She is survived by two children, Keith Schellhase (wife Kimberly) of Waynesboro and Debra A. Newman (Douglas) of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Laurie Vogel (husband Erich) of Chambersburg, Lisa Coder (husband Luke) of Fayetteville, and Meredith Wolff (husband Adam) of Waynesboro; five great grandchildren, Luke, Macy, Jenna, Norah and Carly; and her sister, Betty Wiley of Tampa, FL. Aside from her parents, Doris was preceded in death by an infant son, Glen E. Schellhase, Jr.; three brothers, Robert “Eugene” Hambright, Kenneth Hambright and Richard Hambright; and one sister, Jane Bryant.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Dr. Aaron Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
