Doris Smith

Doris L. Smith, age 82, of Chambersburg, PA; passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital on Monday, August 20, 2012. Born July 30, 1930 in Mercersburg, PA; she was the daughter of the late Olive Bailey and Isaac Sharpe Hendershott.
A homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Zion Reformed Church and the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Smith was a 1948 graduate of the former Mercersburg High School.
Surviving are her sons, Jay L. Smith (wife Ellen) of Chambersburg, PA and Jon S. Smith (wife Beth) of York, PA; four grandchildren, Benjamin L., Madeleine, Lillia, and Hudson; and two siblings, Harold S. Hendershott of Charlotte, NC and Phyllis Bingaman of Mercersburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Smith on January 12, 2007.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Jeffrey Diller will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service for visitation in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Susan G.
