Doris Solenberger

Doris L. Solenberger, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday evening, January 19, 2014 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 17, 1930 in Hustontown, she was a daughter of the late Rolla Hunter and Ruth C. Huston Laidig. A homemaker most of her life, she had worked as a secretary at Letterkenny Army Depot. Doris was a graduate of Thompson Business School in York, PA. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Her husband, Robert W. “Bob” Solenberger, preceded her in death on August 26, 2004.

Mrs. Solenberger is survived by two sons, Rodney L. (and wife Rachel) Solenberger of San Diego, CA, and Eric L. (and wife Gay) of Chambersburg; and three grandchildren, Emily Solenberger of Winchester, VA, Travis Solenberger of Chambersburg, and Derek Solenberger of San Diego, CA; a sister, Miriam Laidig of Chambersburg; and a sister-in-law, Myra Jane Kohr of Chambersburg. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 24, 2014 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg. The Rev. Rick Noll will officiate. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Avenue, or to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter Inc., 5051 Letterkenny Road West, both in Chambersburg, PA 17201.
