Dorothy "Arlene" Flohr

Dorothy “Arlene” Sandoe Flohr, age 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at her daughter’s home. Born October 21, 1929, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Frank and Irene May Roth Sandoe. 

Arlene was a 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and a 1948 graduate of the Frederick’s School of Beauty in Harrisburg, PA. Arlene and Carl were ambitious by nature. She had partnered along with him through various business endeavors. She was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Rotary among many other local organizations that she supported. An adventurous spirit, she loved traveling, going to visit people, sites, and encountering animals on their adventures. 

She is survived by four children, Frank Flohr (Jean), Nina Flohr Van Kampen (J. Daniel), Linn Flohr (Lee Ann), and Mark Flohr (Sherri); eleven grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Richard Flohr on July 8, 2019, whom she married on January 28, 1951; and two siblings, Sara Grace Dunlap and Phyllis Jean Bowman.  

The family will receive friends for a viewing from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, 225 South Second Street, Chambersburg, PA. Interment in Lincoln Cemetery will be private.
