Dorothy “Dottie”Ann Beckner, 81, of Chambersburg, met Jesus on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born February 18, 1942 in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harold A. Sackett, Sr., and Dorothy G. Lawler Sackett.
Early in her life, Dottie worked as a school bus driver when she lived in Massachusetts. She also coached teenage girls’ softball. Dottie enjoyed making crafts, and traveling coast-to-coast with her husband. They made many trips around the country visiting family along the way. She dedicated most of her life to making a home for her family and was affectionately known as “Bonus Mom”. She surrounded her family with love and it has been said “To know Dottie was to know love.”
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Joseph D. Beckner, Jr., whom she married on September 17, 1981; four children, Jo-Ann “Candy” Delaney (Matt), Joseph Kozlowski, Jr. (Amy), Joseph Beckner III (Crystal), and Audra Green (Thomas, Jr.); nine grandchildren, Alex Delaney (Evie), Chase Kozlowski (Brina), Sarah Hayden (Michael), Katherine Smith (Andrew), Jacob Beckner, Natalie Beckner, Laura Wallace (A.J.), Denise Brown (Dustin) and Garet Green; five great grandchildren, Aleigh, Aria, Kandon, Daimen, and Harper; and one brother, Harold A. Sackett, Jr. Aside from her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by an infant great grandchild.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www. act.alz.org.
