Dorothy Brechbill

Dorothy L. Brechbill, 94, a resident at The Village of Laurel Run and formerly of Brookens Road, Fayetteville, PA, died Friday afternoon, January 20, 2012 in the nursing home following a courageous six year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born August 11, 1917 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Theressa Miller Byers. Dorothy was employed for twenty-five years as a seamstress at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg. She was a member of Cold Spring Church in Fayetteville. Her hobbies included cooking and crocheting. Her husband, Roy I. Brechbill, preceded her in death on April 26, 1960.

She is survived by her daughter, Dixie Johns and husband Robert of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law, Brenda Brechbill of Mont Alto; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Hazel McNew; three brothers, Warren Byers, John Byers and wife Arlene, and Wayne Byers and wife Irene, all of Fayetteville; numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended family at The Village of Laurel Run. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Brechbill; and two brothers, McClellan and Leslie Byers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Burt Lange will officiate. Interment will follow at Brechbill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
