Dorothy E. Cook, 83, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at her home. Born March 3, 1934 in Hustontown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Walter August Schwartz, Sr. and Jessie Martina Wagner Schwartz. Her beloved husband, Donald William Cook, whom she married on October 24, 1953, preceded her in death on July 4, 1990.
Dorothy was a member of Fayetteville Church of God. Early in her life she worked as a seamstress at Stanley Co. and later at Tracy Fashions. She also was employed in housekeeping at Letterkenny Army Depot. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many different places and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie K. Nankivell and husband Robert J. of Carlisle, and Donna R. Imes and husband Gregory L. of Gettysburg, PA; three grandchildren, Travis W. Moore and fiancé Nichole Balentine, Amberae Pearson and husband Derek, and Jessica D. Imes and fiancé Jeremy Wildman; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by five siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Fayetteville Church of God, 5276 Trehers Rd. Fayetteville, PA 17222. Pastor Staci Geesaman will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
