Dorothy Jean Dunkle, age 80, of Spring Run, PA, passed away in her home on Monday, August 15, 2011. Born in Willow Hill, PA on January 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Sara Gamble Laman.
A seamstress, Dorothy retired from the J. Schoeneman Company in 1984. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading, going to gospel concerts, and dirt track racing.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond Dunkle (wife Sophie) of Spring Run, PA and David Dunkle (wife Christine) of Spring Run, PA, six grandchildren, David Dunkle (wife Dorina); Melissa Stevens; Heather Hamman (husband Bill); Kevin Dunkle (wife Tara); Rebecca Love (husband Jonathan); and Jeff Dunkle, nine great grandchildren, Jillian, Kyrsten, Makenna, Carah, Haleigh, James, Megan, Abigail, and Karey, two siblings, Hazel Warner of Harrisburg, PA and Harry W. Laman of Harrisburg, PA, and a dear friend, Marilyn Wright of Phoenix, AZ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Dunkle in 2008 and one son, Kenneth Dunkle and eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11 AM at the Dry Run United Brethren Church, Main St., Dry Run, PA; where Rev. Tim Vaughn and Rev. Roy Fahnestock will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow at the Upper Path Valley Cemetery.
